NACD Stewardship Week 2026 - Day 4

The image shows a sunset over a field with plants and a message highlighting that farming begins with healthy soil.

Agricultural conservation practices such as planting cover crops and reducing soil disturbance help keep soil in place, prevent erosion, increase farm productivity and profitability, and protect nearby habitats. 🌾🚜🧑‍🌾

Conservation districts work with local farmers and producers to implement soil health practices on their lands!

The Hillsborough Soil and Water Conservation District works with farmers, ranchers, and other types of landowners  them with funding opportunities, conservation information, technical guidance, and partner programs to help keep their working lands productive. This includes sharing information about Best Management Practices developed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services which are designed to protect water quality while maintaining productivity. The conservation district also collaborates with organizations like the USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service where producers can gain access to conservation planning, technical assistance, and voluntary programs that address soil, water, and habitat concerns.
