Keel Farms - Conservation Collection - Batberry Wine

A little bat with a big story.

The image features a bottle of Batberry Wine from Keel Farms, promoting endangered species conservation, with a natural backdrop and bat-themed design.

This fruit-forward blackberry wine celebrates Florida's endangered bonneted bat, with every bottle helping support conservation efforts to protect this remarkable native species and the wild Florida it calls home.

Florida bonneted bats (Eumops floridanus) are endemic to the southern half of our peninsula, inhabiting the area south of Orlando to Miami, along both coasts. They are among the largest bats in the United States  with wingspans of up to 20 inches. These bats have large, forward-facing ears that give them the appearance of wearing a bonnet. Florida bonneted bats are insectivores, capturing their prey while in flight.

The primary threats to this species include habitat destruction, fragmentation, and modification due to development and agriculture. Disease, small population size, climate change effects, pesticide use, and restricted range also endanger these bats.

Why Conservation Florida?

Conservation Florida is an accredited, nonprofit land conservancy dedicated to conserving the Sunshine State’s water, wildlife, wild places — the places that make Florida home. Since its founding in 1999, Conservation Florida has saved roughly 45,000 acres, serving all 67 counties in Florida, by prioritizing strategic and evidence-based land protection, education, and advocacy. Thanks to Conservation Florida, Eagle Haven Ranch along Lake Kissimmee (once at risk of development) is now permanently protected. This 2,317-acre habitat is home to nearly 200 species, from Florida Scrub Jays to endangered Florida panthers. No resorts. No marinas. No development. Just wild Florida, forever.
